Naam Yoga

A Pure Science of Divine Spiritual Wisdom and Physical Wellbeing

The Radiance of Naam Yoga
Naam Yoga will bring you to your center of radiance and magnetic energy. It is the most powerful tool available for the removal of mental, physical and spiritual suffering. By working with Naam, the body becomes attuned to a state of perfect healing, thereby granting you the love, faith and hope to sustain it. Become a student of the Divine Spiritual Wisdom and vibrate Naam so that you are open to develop intuitive awareness, spiritual intelligence and health.

A Pure Science
Naam Yoga is an unprecedented fusion of the practice of yoga of the East with the wisdom and light of Universal Kabbalah of the West. It incorporates the practice of the Divine Word with yogic movement (stretching postures, breathing, mudra) and meditation to allow the soul to be awakened and cosmic consciousness to be achieved. In essence it represents the return to One. It offers the student the universal key for maximum spiritual development.

Yoga and Sound
The power of the word has a unifying, enlivening, uplifting, cleansing and sustaining affect on the chanter and the listener. Throughout history, humans have combined physical movement with sound to energize and enliven the activity. The word is used to express motion and motion is used to express the word, which is why most humans gesticulate with their hands when trying to convey a powerful verbal message. There are many examples in the West of purposefully combining the word with movement. Dancing and singing has not only been a universal means of entertainment but has served to instill a sense of cultural identity. The Martial Arts combines the most powerful portion of a movement with a verbal sound to precisely direct the energy of the body and mind. Many athletic workouts combine chanting with movement. The long recognized “home team advantage” is a powerful example of how positive verbal sound vibrations, coming from the fans, can uplift the receiving team—giving them a winning advantage. Troops from around the world chant while exercising to uplift and inspire courage and unity.

Combining chanting with movement increases endurance in the face of challenge. It also reduces the phenomena of bound or repressed feelings by positively transmuting negative internal feelings into healthy energy patterns. Many people who practice chanting report a vast improvement in their ability to communicate. The lively nature of Naam Yoga classes promotes an invigorating energy. The human voice, when vocalized as a group, has the ability to exponentially magnify healing vibrations for all those present to receive and be uplifted.

Healing and Sound
The use of sound vibration with movement is one of the fastest growing and most profound yogic modalities in the Western world. The science of healing with sound employs the infinite capacity of the brain to heal one’s self and expand one’s projection with the proper use of vibration, sound patterning and word meaning. Like the fingers, the tongue is also supplied with tremendous quantities of nerve endings. When one chants, the upper palate is stimulated by the tongue which generates beneficial vibrations to the brain. Naam Yogis are masters of the use of the word and sound to powerfully promote self healing and mental/emotional balance.

Mudra and the Hands
A mudra is a hand posture that creates a particular beneficial impact on the psyche. This works because the brain allocates a tremendous amount of neural stimulation to the fingers and hands. In Oriental medicine, it is recognized that each finger, which is fed by particular nerves, are also fed by acupuncture meridians. For example, it is possible to improve the memory and reduce stress through proper use of particular hand postures. Humans universally and unconsciously assign meaning to certain hand postures such as pointing the index finger to direct a person. Waving the hands naturally creates a greeting of welcome; gripping a fist is a result of stress, anger or fear. Touching finger tips to finger tips is often done when an individual is feeling thoughtful. While these are results of internal processes, we can beneficially affect our internal processes by consciously using mudra.   The use of mudra is actually the science of precisely influencing the entire brain and body with a correct combination of neural stimulation.

Breathing - Pranayam
The breath of life is the body’s connection between life and death. It is also the spirit’s primary connection to the physical world as we know it. The hypothalamus, the vagus nerve, the entire brain, and the nervous system are brought into balance through correct application of the breath. There are specific breathing exercises designed to generate physical detoxification, increase energy levels, and promote deep relaxation. The autonomic nervous system, which rules our ability to be in healing mode and in a state of clear consciousness, is brought into balance through breath work taught in Naam Yoga.

Divine Spiritual Wisdom
The Naam Yogi recognizes the need for methods that improve health and nourish the spirit as well as the utilization of practical knowledge that allows one to thrive in the physical world. Part of being a successful spiritual person requires the ability to reap the fruits of the spirit in order to effectively maintain relationships, thrive in a career and contribute to community. This requires an understanding of the Laws of the Universe that govern our world which are taught beautifully within the teachings of Universal Kabbalah. All yogis will benefit from the knowledge of Universal Kabbalah and all Kabbalists will benefit from the practice of yoga.
